The Pacific Crest Trail Film Night is back for another year!

On Friday March 9th at the South Bellevue Community Center, and on
Friday March 16th at the Mountaineer’s Seattle Program Center in Magnuson Park off Sand Point Way, there will be 7 p.m. screenings of the film “Six Million Steps – A Journey Inward.”
The Bellevue location is the significantly smaller venue (about 150) of the two and will likely sell out. In addition, the Seattle PCT film night was a near sell-out last year.
Below is a description of the event.
Six Million Steps is feature-length documentary that chronicles the lives and accomplishments of hikers during their adventures on the Pacific Crest Trail, which spans 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada, including 965 miles of PCT trail in Washington and Oregon. Each year, several hundred “thru-hikers” attempt to hike border to border, and, in doing so, experience doubt, hunger, elation, discomfort, resolve, camaraderie, and personal epiphanies small and large. Hikers break from their lives in society, leave their families, jobs, homes, and cars for this time period to live and trek off-the-grid, hiking between 15 and 30 miles a day.

The film is an enlightening and humanizing documentation of the journey that takes place within, when modern conveniences are left behind, the hikers become a community and ever-shifting trail family, and the journey of five to six months itself becomes a way of life. So rather than being a film comprised primarily of scenic views and landscapes, “Six Million Steps” focuses on interviews with the male and female PCT thru-hikers while on various portions of the trail and their transformative and ever-changing emotional, psychological, physical and social experience as they wake up and trek most every day from dawn to dusk for almost half a year.
Beer and wine and soft drinks will be available at the Seattle showing and Dante’s Inferno Dogs will provide food cart service.
Tickets are $8 General Admission, $7 (Mountaineers Members and City of Bellevue Residents), $10 day of the event (cash only). Doors open at 6:00 p.m. If you have any questions about the showings, contact:

Related to this 2nd annual PCT Film Night showing, the Mountaineers will also be offering another
PCT hiking and backpacking series this summer, offering day trips and multi-day backpacks along portions of the PCT in Washington and Oregon, supplemented by seminars on lightweight/extended hiking and backpacking logistics and equipment, and backpacking meal and nutrition planning. An introductory presentation on the Mountaineers PCT series, along with the club’s Conditioning Hiking Series and Basic Wilderness Travel program, will be held on February 22nd, at 6:30 p.m. at the Mountaineer’s Seattle Program Center in Magnuson Park.
